  2. I want to know why the Food Lion Store in Dunlop Village, Colonial Heights, Va., can not use the paper bags they get for pickup customers for those in the store getting their groceries. When I asked for paper bags, they told me they were out, but the store workers used them to get groceries. The cashiers say these bags are exceptional. They are the same bags as I want.

  8. Yesterday at the Yanceyville, NC store, I had a particularly notable checkout experience. The lady was speedy and efficient but still gentle with the fruits and vegetables when she packed them into bags. I appreciate expediency and cashier competence!

The store was not busy, and it was during a slow time of day. It was pretty cruel.

  18. I enjoy shopping at Food Lion. I drive an extra 10 minutes to shop in a safer area. Most of the employees are pleasant, friendly and polite. They assist you with questions or direct you to an item you want. I always use the self-check-out if available. Tonight, the self-check-out cashier could have been more polite and friendly. I needed assistance with a problem (multiple charges on one item). He told me to ignore the extra expense and gave me a hard time. As I was leaving the check-out lane, I thanked him for his help, but he ignored me and kept walking away. He was insulting!!! I usually don’t let rude people bother me, but he made me think about his actions and attitude all the way home. I had a very unpleasant drive home on the highway. I will remember him and avoid any direct contact and assistance from him in the future.

The deli department is tops in pricing, quality and service. Produce is fresh, well stocked and competitively priced. The meat department is well-priced and well-stocked.     The young lady at the scan: You should be aware of people’s customers around before she starts talking about a customer who left the cart at the scanning area and had to push it back to the cart area. It doesn’t stop me from shopping here.

  21. I shop at my local Food Lion in Springfield, Georgia, at least 2x a week. I just had a problem today. I had the rudest cashier, #0223. I asked if I could give him my phone number for my rewards, and he said, “You can do it yourself.” there was no one in line behind me, and I asked him if he could put the bags in my cart as I had hand surgery and my hand was sore, and he told me that was not his job. He asked to speak to his manager and was told she was at lunch; it was 2:30 p.m. Not a happy shopper today.

  22. I’ve always been able to have a very pleasurable time shopping at the Saint George, SC Food Lion. Every employee always has a smile & and is extremely helpful. I’m relatively new to SC & I’m noticing people are so friendly here! I’ve recently had surgery, which limits the weight I can lift. So at checkout, they not only let me go into the express lane so I didn’t have to stand much longer, but I also had help with carrying out & and loading my car. The prices & and quality of the items were surprisingly good, too!

If you are a regular customer, the managers remember and call you by name and request that I give the store managers they have addressed as having more electric shopping carts and stocking up on items that sell out quickly.   27. Store #0849 stopped carrying King Arthur All Purpose Flour. That, along with Nature’s Promise, boneless chicken breasts are the only two reasons we go into Food Lion vs the nearby Kroger or Harris Teeter.

    We appreciate the other gluten-free flours offered, but King Arthur has the best GF rating and preferred taste for us.

    Please bring it back.


  28. In the past six months, I became a Food Lion customer. Shopping at Food Lion is a pleasant experience. I have found the store where I shop to be clean and open at hours convenient to my schedule, and the staff are professional, attentive, and extremely accommodating. I am impressed with the quality of the produce and the variety of products. I can readily find the products I prefer and occasionally are sold at a cost-saving price. The Deli department offers quality meats and cheeses. In addition, the baked goods are impressive. As of today, I have saved $109.83.

    Our shopping experience is Awesome at this particular Food Lion, and we deal with this store about 2 to 3 times a week. This was just a dash in the day. All the associates are on the same page to make me feel that they would have had a less-than-great day if I had not come in today to shop.
    I am usually greeted or acknowledged in all the departments, and if I need any assistance, they are most accommodating to me. This store recently changed management, and the positive turnaround is terrific. Keep up the great work, Food Lion.

She rang and bagged my groceries alone. Other employees were standing nearby talking, but no one helped her. She is good at her job and deserves to be recognized. I will check with her in the future. Over the last couple of months, the employees have been stocking shelves, making it challenging to shop—large carts stocked with merchandise blocking shelves. More than two customers can’t get down one idle. I tried shopping again this weekend around noon, and I had the same experience. Suggestion: When trucks deliver merchandise, allow non-perishable items to be stocked during peak hours, from 6 am to noon. A better suggestion is to stock shelves from 7 pm till they are finished.

My groceries were over 200 dollars, and I asked the young lady bagging my groceries if she would put groceries in the back of my car. She went out to the car with me and loaded all the bags in my car. I tried to tip her $3.00 for helping me, but she told me she couldn’t take tips. She was accommodating and courtesy.

    One checkout is open, but no employee is helping self-checkout. Self-checkout of bags. Employees are standing around doing nothing and having conversations. “I DO NOT DO SELF CHECKOUT”!!! I did it today since 20+ people were waiting for checkout, of which more than half were waiting for service checkout. I may not be returning to this store for a long time due to consistent issues with checkout, pallets of stock on the floor throughout the entire day, stockers on aisles with stock left on the floor along with carts of stock and shopping carts of trash, and food lion shoppers with oversized carts constantly getting in the way. I have even mentioned the reduced selection of Food Lion brand products available in store or the prices.

  40. I shop at Food Lion store #2508 in Cape Charles, VA. I am so disgusted every time I shop at the store, but unfortunately, I have no choice. The store will be busy, and only one, rarely two, full-service lanes will open. I will not use self-checkout when I have a cart full of groceries because there isn’t any place to put the bags of groceries while checking out. Employees are walking around looking at their phones while customers are trying to get checked out. Today, my clerk was looking at her phone while trying to check me out. Employees should have to turn in their phones while they are on duty. It’s disgusting!

    My Food Lion experience today is, as always, a good shopping experience until I reach the checkout. I wouldn’t say I like your new setup where I, the customer, must unload all my items onto the belt, and then after the clerk scans them and puts them in a bag, I must load them again into my cart. Why must I do all the heavy lifting? I am the one paying for the items. The least you can do is load them back into my cart. I do shop around at other stores, and my shopping experience at Harris Teeter is much more pleasant because they will unload and reload all my grocery items and then offer to help me take them to the car. What a delight! I would appreciate a response.

    I went to self-service. The manager lady running the self-check out was in La La Land. She finally came and checked in on my register to authorize me to buy beer. I asked how she was doing, and she completely ignored me. Then, very unprofessionally started yelling at employees to start doing specific duties.
